or.. Meet the Students
The Lakeland College has grown from humble beginnings to become one of the largest homœopathic training colleges in the U.K. As we have grown, our staff team has expanded to include a network of course tutors, regional tutors and clinical training supervisors. Whilst our students numbers have also grown considerably, our group sizes have been kept to a maximum of twenty students to ensure adequate individual attention can be given.

Kay Hebbourn started her working life at the age of 16 as a lifeguard, swimming instructor and coach. She taught advanced first aid, and developed a taste for all things medical. She then trained as a general nurse, specialising in accident and emergency, but also taking on a mentoring role in the hospital. She began teaching health and social care, first aid and nursing in further education at the same time as nursing. On completion of the advanced nursing diploma, and after having a 'road to Damascus experience', she decided to leave nursing and study homeopathy. Two years into her homeopathic learning, she left further education and began to practise homeopathy full-time. She then qualified as a practitioner with The National Centre for Eating Disorders, and currently works mostly with clients with eating disorders. She studied NLP, to assist her learning, practice and teaching and within this study, focused on 'learning to learn'. She completed an MSc in Health and Healing Sciences in 2004. Throughout Kay's career, she has been a perpetual learner, teacher and healer and her philosophy is that these activities can never be separated.

I think it is important to be yourself in practice and to be real with your patients. I also enjoy the materia medica side of homeopathy enormously." |

Robert Bridge trained in London and has been in practice for 15 years. During that time he has taught for most of the major UK colleges, worked as a personal supervisor and clinical supervisor, and presented several case studies at national conferences. Although his approach to both his own patients and teaching is primarily pragmatic, his training with the Guild of Homeopaths has given him an insight into subtle energy models and some of the new remedies. His other life as a classically trained concert pianist infuses his work and he is always looking for ways to bring out the inner music that lies beneath the spoken word. |

"I am passionate about using a combination of the magic of homœopathic prescribing and shamanic techniques to help people visit their stuck places and transform them, to touch in on their beauty, strengthen those places, and to reclaim their wholeness and vital energy. I love working with groups and finding imaginative ways to engage people in the learning process.” |

Lee Pollack has been practising homeopathy in southeast London for over 12 years, " I am particularly excited about homeopathy as an energy medicine. I use other energy disciplines such as the chakra system, the Kabbalistic Tree of Life and meditation techniques to help me to understand why the body has produced particular physical symptoms. Everything happens for a reason. And if we can identify the underlying causes of a physical ailment, then anything is possible. That has been my experience." |

Final year case assessment
Part of the graduation criteria is that all students in their third year must write up five cases each with two followups. In order to facilitate maximum learning from this process cases are submitted one at a time and are reviewed by our staff.
Case feedback takes place every college weekend and third year students have individual sessions on their cases, designed to support their continuing development as practitioners.
